GENDER REVEAL PARTAY!!!

Oh my, what a night!!! We decided to find out and reveal the gender of our baby with 40 of our "closest" friends and family! My awesomely sweet and talented neighbor/friend offered to through this reveal for us. She did an amazing job...

A chocolate fountain was set up on the kitchen island... Surrounded by cookies, strawberries, fruit kabobs, marshmallows, and other sweet treats!

Ok... so here's how it went down! First of  all I was lovely tricked by my husband. He found out the gender a MONTH before the party...Yes, I said a MONTH!  I didn't find this tidbit out until the party!  I still can't believe he was able to keep the secret!

So since he knew ahead of time he planned the actually reveal... He wrapped 4 or 5 boxes one inside the other and I had to unwrap each one until I got the the last box..."The BOX"

This was the last box... at this point I was done, if you know what I mean...I was ready to know already!!!!

In the last box was the reveal, a teddy bear with a blue ribbon around this neck and a charm that read...
IT'S A BOY!!!!
Can you tell I was SHOCKED! I MEAN SHOCKED!!!!!!! And can you tell Daddy's just a little proud! ; )

My hubby did good, didn't he : )

The sweet big sister!

So the gender reveal was a big success but here's some food for thought!  The gender of your baby is very personal and life changing news! It's a lot to digest in a room full of people! Since we already have a daughter I would have loved to share the moment my husband found out we were having a son... It's been a life long dream for him and I seeing his expression, tears, when he heard the news for the first time would have been priceless!  Although it was really fun, it was a very emotional moment  filled with mixed emotions.  I definelty see the value of finding out in a more private and intimate way where both parents are able to process this new information individually and together.  Not saying I regret it at all, just sharing another side! One way to get around this is to find out together then reveal to friend/family at party or both partners find out together at party. I still think option one would be the best! But in the end it's just an excuse to get together with people you love and party...Can't go wrong there!
