Baby Shower For Baby "S"

This weekend I had a Baby Shower for an old friend and her sweet little girl that is soon on her way!  Having the shower at our new place was a great incentive to do so much needed decorating, so that was an added bonus! The shower was casual and laid back, but beautiful and sweet!  The food was amazing also... Tomato Soup (La Madeleine style) and fresh off the griddle grilled cheese were the main dishes! For drinks we had ice tea and cucumber-lime water!  We played the most fun game I've ever played at a baby shower. Since it was a couples shower, guys were invited! One of the hostesses, Mandi M., came up with this game it was a blast! Mandi asked the mom-to-be before the shower to name the hardest things to do while being pregnant. The mom came up with this list:

1. shaving
2. rolling over
3. slow dancing
4. lacing shoes

At the shower Mandi had the father-to-be and three other guys (selected by dad) to come to the front of the room and perform these acts! The guys had big balloons stuffed under their shirts to simulate a baby bump! The guys were great sports and added a lot of humor to each activity! At the end the mom-to-be judge which guy did best!

Pompoms (Oh sooooo easy to make!!!) and balloons make a cheap and beautiful focal point! We added streamers to each corner of the table to create a canopy affect! I think it worked!

Throughout the house we decorated with old books, Mason jars with white daises and sliced lemons.  We also placed baby pictures of the mom and dad-to-be in different areas!  The letter "S" was made by covering a cardboard letter with scrapbook paper... first outline letter onto scrapbook paper, cut out, paint letter, and use spray adhesive to glue together! You can also smudge a little darker paint around the edges to give it a more antiqued look. I didn't do that here but have seen it done and the results are great!

Baby  pictures add a personal touch and it's fun to see what the new baby might look like!!! These two where super cute babies!

A pendant across mantel with baby's name. Another easy project: All you need is ribbon or string, scrapbook paper cut in triangles, and I used "chipboard" letter I bought white and painted them the color i wanted. I also added little clear stones, just one on each triangle.

Well it was fun! Ready for my own shower now!!! Wait, I don't have to throw my own, do I? hummm : ) We'll see!
