it's the little things...

My husband asked me today how my day was, with a smile I simply said, "good." I didn't go into details, knowing I would bore him with the seemingly meaningless pieces of my day! But for me the day was meaningful, full of life and joy! True there were no major problems solved and no great accomplishments achieved. I didn't talk to important clients or close million dollar deals. No, I actually stayed in my pajamas too late and left the house in jeans I found in the dirty clothes hamper! But I could count it as a great day, because I got to spend time with my daughter and watch her enjoy every minute. So here are the details I left out:

As usual Maddy woke up ready to see her friend, Ty-our cat. Before I could even get her bottle ready she starts, "Ty, ty, ty, ty, ty..." This is my reminder to let the cat out of his "room." After bottle, Ty and Maddy play some variation of ”cat and mouse", except in this scenario, Ty is the "mouse" and Maddy is the "cat." Then its nap, lunch and a little free play! I just bought Maddy one of those play house things...it makes all kinds of noises and music. When the house starts to play music, Maddy starts movin' and groovin'! It's just so stinkin' cute a total highlight of my day. She is usually all smiles, but she takes dancing very seriously! ha ha! I try not to laugh as to not interrupt her, but sometimes I can't help it and then she starts to laugh too. She is just so much fun! After dancing, we were off to the post office to mail birthday invitations! She wore a new outfit (given to her by Aunt Faye) it is white and truquoise striped with a bright yellow botton on the left shoulder and a big embroidered bee on the opposite side. Of course we topped off the look with a pretty white bow ; ) At the post office she smilled and giggled at everyone in line and she even got the postal attendant to give us some extra help...way to go Maddy! Then, we stopped for a late lunch for me and then home for the day. Around seven I started our very long pre-bed-time routine, but instead of rocking her to sleep like I usually do, I rocked her for just a few seconds and just put her in her crib wide awake...not a peep came out of her, she just went right to sleep BY HER SELF!!! woo hoo!

So if you are reading this and getting bored just thinking about it, you can sympathize with my husband, but for me I think back on today and see how joyful it really was, watching sweet Madeline take in every second with excitement and laughter...joy uninterrupted :)
